How to Overcome Adversity With Love and Reflection

Be The Reflection

You overcome adversity by simply reflecting what you’d like to see in life. Reflect the good that you’d like to see in people. Reflect the voice you’d like to hear from the crowd and speak it with authority and humility. Speak knowing that God has granted you a voice along with the vision and the perfect words to translate it, so they may not fall on deaf ears. Reflect the posture you’d like to see the defeated stand with. Remind those who walk aimlessly that they too are children of the most high and they too can rise up and change their posture to reflect the strength and resilience of Christ. Reflect the love you’d like to see in your family, community and throughout the world. Be the reflection that people see and admire just as they do a celebrity with charm and poise. Reflect the courage to stand up for the helpless and love those who oppress them just the same you’d like for someone to stand with you in your time of need. It’s not about reflecting our version of perfection but simply allowing the reflection of Christ’s love to take center stage. When people see the reflection of love they will witness humility, hospitality, forgiveness, strength, courage, sound thinking and easy to digest words of grace, wisdom and knowledge. Reflect the mannerisms you’d like to see others portray in times of differences and confrontations.

When water is still the peace of the waters transcend the barriers of the bank – and in the same way – we must be still like the water and allow the peace of our hearts to carry over the barriers of hatred and into others. In other words – peace and the peace of one’s mindset and spirit are contagious and can be received well even in times of tribulation. Reflect the attitude of transformation and not conformation. Reflect the change you’d like to see others experience when they too surrender their lives to Christ and transform their way of thinking. Reflect life and how purposeful and wonderful it is. Reflect the joy you’d like to see in children’s faces when they question life, and wonder why me? Why us? Why our city? Why now? Reflect the hope that these children can cling to and be the reminder that life is good and how we are to live and overcome all because with God all things are possible.

In times of conflict reflect the bravery it takes to turn the other cheek and turn from the path of darkness and walk towards the light and on the path of righteousness. Reflect the wisdom of God that the people of this world are so desperately searching for but tend to listen to the philosophies of those who are deaf to the voice of the Lord. Reflect the devotion it takes to pray and seek the word and will of God that others tend to cave in and give up too early for. Reflect the joy of hearing God’s voice and ministry while in prayer and meditation of His word. Let others see the reflection of Christ in you despite the adversities of this world and walk in the humility knowing that all good things come together for those who love the Lord. Reflect the confidence of Christ while speaking against sickness and declaring healing and victory. Reflect the love of God you’d like to see in your church. Reflect the love of God you’d like to experience when you meet someone for the first time. Be the joy, be the life, be the smile, be the love – be the reflection.

John 3:16 (NLT)…For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
